Richard Platero, (To bazhni'azhi and Ashi hi) WW II Veteran , At the age of 100 years old, Grandpa Richard receives the Congressional Silver Medal of Honor on July 22, 2002, for his services in the Pacific War in 1942-1944 Richard passed on April of 2004. Thank you to all who came and supported the family in prayer. We are so proud of our grandfather. In his younger days he was given the name, "The Paper Carrier" being that he was one of the first in his Reservation ( Tohajiilee / Canoncito NM) to read and write. At 40 years old he enlisted into the Marine Corp and the rest, as they say, is all History. |
